Vacation, Anyone?

Okay, so here's the dilemma. . .Steven and I want to go on a trip. Doesn't sound so bad yet, does it? Every year we are invited by either my side of the fam or his side of the fam (or both) to go with them--this year is different. We are going to go by ourselves. I want to go to my all time favorite place (besides Italy, which face it, is too expensive)Jackson Hole. Summer rates are ridiculous! We want to go somewhere we can take Addi because we love the outdoors and hiking. Steven has researched the Redwoods in northern Cal and Shasta Mountain. Has anyone been to a great outdoorsy place that we should know about? Trip planning is not my thing. Road trippin' is the word. If you have been on any great road trips to Washington, Oregon, Colorado or anywhere West Coastish let me know where you went and where you stayed.

Whit, I don't know about a lot of places, but the Oregon coast is supposed to be great, and you could stop at the Gorge. Washington has Cascade National Park. Colorado has Rocky Mountain National Park. I really enjoyed South Dakota. There is a lot to do there: The Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, The Wind Caves. Julie and I liked the Muir Woods, however, it isn't a big place. It would have to be one stop in a trip. I love the PCH; the Big Sur may be worth looking into. Well, those are some ideas. Good luck! Richie

Hey Whit - Jules here. Ahhh road trippin...If were still in the west I would definitely take advantage of the road tripping possibilities. I went to Denver and Washington(The Gorge) with girlfriends in college - both were very fun and beautiful drives. I especially loved driving through Oregon, it was stunning with all of those pine trees. Richie and I both loved San Fransisco, it is such an awesome city! I have a thing for Canada and I have always wanted to go to either Banff or Whistler - those would be my top choices! Wish we could join you guys - you'll have a great time no matter where you decide to go!

Whit- If you come to Colorado there are few beautiful places that we go every year! Estes Park is one of my most favorite places. We've never stayed the night because we don't live to far, but I'm sure you could find a decent hotel or even camp grounds with little cabins. Also, there are so many other beautiful places here in Colorado. Crested Butte, Vail, Aspen, all are fun outdoorsy destinations.

What about Lake Tahoe? I LOVE that place. I have an Uncle that lives there so we never have to get lodging accomodations. You might be looking at the same problem as Jackson Hole--as far as the price goes.

Good Luck, and I hope you come to Colorado! It's a beautiful state and so much fun!
